The D155AXi-8 RC dozer is more advanced than other radio- control dozers because it is equipped with Komatsu’s enhanced “intelligence” that enables the dozer to sense and control blade load. For many operators, being able to feel machine response to the blade load helps them to operate the machine effectively. With radio control, the operator can’t judge the response as well as when he’s in the seat. However, the D155AXi-8 has a similar ability to sense the blade load, and the enhanced intelligence also allows the machine to optimize the start of the cut and to minimize track slip. The iMC dozer provides efficient automated dozing at every stage of the process. “The D155AXi-8 Radio Control dozer is ideal for applications where customers may want to remove the operator from the machine for safety reasons, but still maintain high levels of efficiency and productivity,” said Sebastian Witkowski, product manager, Komatsu America Corp. “This dozer meets customer demands in those applications while utilizing Komatsu’s proven auto- mated rough-cut-to-finish-grade technology.” The dozer provides maximum operating efficiency, thanks to an automatic gearshift transmission and torque converter that work together to ensure optimal gear range based on jobsite conditions and load. The electronically- controlled transmission locks up the torque converter to transfer engine power to the transmission, which eliminates loss of horsepower and results in up to 10 percent lower fuel consumption. Another productivity boost comes from the patented Sigmadozer blade, which is designed to dig and roll more soil at the center. The blade holds more material, reduces digging resistance, and dozes up to 15 percent more material while using less power, compared to a traditional semi-U blade. The 354-horsepower Tier 4 Final engine is turbo- charged and after-cooled, and emits 80 percent less nitrogen oxide than the previous model. Komatsu covers scheduled factory maintenance on the D155AXi-8 radio-controlled dozer for three years or 2,000 hours under the Komatsu CARE program, which is in effect whether the machine is rented, leased, or purchased.
