These compact excavators do not require diesel exhaust fluid, or DEF, to meet Tier 4 Final requirements. The excavators also use up to 5 percent less fuel than earlier models without compromising their performance or productivity. The excavators are designed to perform in the tightest job sites, with features such as a tight-tail-swing radius, swing boom, and convex sliding doors that hug the machine. “For most confined-area job sites with construction, utility, landscaping or similar applications, this is the right tool for the job,” noted Columbus Equipment Company General Sales Manager Jason Crain. “The PC45 and PC55 are designed for versatility, maneuverability, comfort and low operating costs.” Komatsu has added as standard many improvements that enhance productivity and ease of maintenance on these Dash-5 models. Standard auxiliary piping for attachments and a thumb mount provision on the arm allow the excavators to be extremely versatile, whether you are doing demolition, digging, or using the machine to grab scrap or lay sewer pipe. Additionally, working modes have been enhanced, allowing the operator to match the engine speed and pump delivery to the application, resulting in the right amount of power without wasting fuel. Other fuel-saving enhancements include a new auto-idle shutdown and economy modes. The new, high-res LCD monitor also provides Ecology Guidance to help operators maximize fuel economy. Several of the enhancements make these machines easier to maintain. Wide service doors provide easy access for ground level maintenance, and the tilt-up cab allows technicians to reach hydraulic components and the back of the engine. The high-strength, X-track frame deters the buildup of dirt and debris, saving operators time when they are cleaning the machine.
